Vazhakkoombu-Vanpayar Thoran !! (Banana Flower & Red Cow Peas in crushed coconut )


To cook banana flower
1 banana flower,peeled and chopped fine
1/4 tsp turmeric powder 
1 tsp chilly powder
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup cooked cow peas
To crush 
1/2 cup grated coconut
2 cloves of garlic
To Temper
2 tsp coconut oil
1 dry chilly
1 tsp urad dal/black gram dal
1 tsp mustard seeds
2 sprig curry leaves


Apply some oil to the chopped banana flower and keep for some time.This is to remove stain.Clean and cook it adding the powders, salt and water.Once boiled,slow cook along with the cooked cow peas.Once it’s cooked mix in the crushed coconut and garlic.Check salt.Now heat coconut oil in a small skillet and splutter mustard seeds,black gram dal,dry chilly and curry leaves.Pour it over the prepared banana flower mix.Serve with kanji or rice.
